The infant's health status has to be seriously considered while deciding whether the child requires hot or cold water bath.

Skin care:

It is very essential to rub and dry the skin of the infant with flannel after a bath. It has to be done very quickly as delay in the process can cause infection to the infant. . In modern days mothers are becoming careless and are contented by cleaning the hands and face. It is a very wrong practice as it may cause the accumulation of the germs in the other portions of the body. A child may develop very many infections due to this. Thus cleaning the baby thoroughly and regularly is absolutely essential.

A healthy child is one that is active and fresh in the morning due to the good night sleep. The peacefulness of the night's sleep can be owed to the clean bath taken in the night. The child can be given a shower bath in the morning, which will prove very effective. Some children may be afraid of the shower. In any case sponging throughout the body with some salt water should be done. The salt will also reduce the chances of infection.

During cold climate slightly warm water can be used for bath. If health permits it is ideal to bathe in cold water. Immediately after bath, drying of the child's body has to be completed rapidly. Dressing up the infant should be followed immediately as the child's body may not bear the cold as an adult's body.

Sea Bath for Fun and Good:

Bathing in sea is a good practice though care should be taken that the baby does not find it fatigue. If the child has a weak build, prolonged sea bath might prove to be very harmful. Sea bathing also helps in learning swimming which is considered to be a very good exercise. Sea bath can have many benefits like increase in stamina, increase in appetite, good skin glow etc. If such positive symptoms are not found, sea bath must be prevented.

Beliefs connected with Bathing:

It is a myth that bathing in warm water is very essential to maintain good health. A cold water bath can be useful in toning up the body and all its systems. It can also increase the vigor and keep the infant active. It has to be carefully analyzed as to whether the infant will stand the cold water bath as it can cause shivering or other problems to weak children. Thus warm bath usually forms positive effects on the week foundation for children and cold water brings fine results for healthy foundation for children.

The infant has to be cleaned by bathing daily by any manner and can be continued by a sponging along with salt water. Adequate drying and rubbing is required immediately after bath. The glow in the skin of the child will be achieved by this. In certain cases if it is not achieved a bit of vinegar can be added to warm water and tried.
