Nyc taxi driver support family of 6?
Well my dad has started doing taxi, and i was wondering how much he makes, and is it enough money to pay for 6 people in our family and a 2500 morgage payment every month not including bills living on long island? Or do you think he has to do something else? Also he said he might get or rent a medallion can you tell me whats so good about that and if he does do u think then he wud b able 2 pay and us survive on that? thanks...
I admire your father's grit and determination to survive, but, frankly, I don't know if that can be done renting a medallion cab. Consider the $2500 mortgage, that's $600+ per week. Food for six has to be between $250 and $300 minimum. Utilities and cable can add another $100. That's a grand already and we didn't even consider clothing, entertainment, schools, insurance, health care and anything else that you can think of. I don't think that cab drivers clear $250+ per shift that would be necessary to do this.
It can only help for other s in the family to get whatever work that they can, be it baby sitting, fast food, retail or hopefully some better paying fields. I wish all of you a lot of luck and hopefully you will all find a route to survival until the better times get here.
