need help joining the muilitary... please read?
i joined the national guar a year ago and the recruiter told me to lie about my criminal history because nothing came back on the county (local) backround check he did. so i went to meps and lied then like 4 months before i shipped a private investigator came with everything id ever been arrested for on a paper. he questioned me about each of them... i told the recruiters i wanted out. i got out... the papers said failure to ship. nothing about dishonerable discharge. i think it was uncharactorized. they were trying to get me to come back in six months so i think i can still rejoin right? i never got in trouble for fraudulent enlistment anyways. and all the crimes ive commited were juvenile. think i can get in the army or marines???
You got an admin discharge prior to shipping to basic and the other thing that kept you out of jail in the meantime was the NG, not active duty. If you had gone back to MEPS and shipped to basic they still would not have thrown you in jail but you would have more than likely received an ELS discharge with a DD 214 with an RE4 code on it and in English that means you would never join any branch of the military again and federal jobs, forget it. Not really sure what is on your juvenile record but many of those are disqualifying period and many others require waivers of which I believe at the moment only the NG is giving out waivers of any kind and for multiple offenses forget that too. Bottom line is if you want to try and join again disclose everything and if the recruiters local check reveals nothing and he/she tells you to lie at MEPS, don't as in Do Not do it again. Better to clear the air on the way in than find yourself in hot water six months after basic.
Now since this isn't high school homework and I just happened by here being retired from the Army you probably won't get too many answers so if you want to take your post, place it in Microsoft Word and Spell Check it, clean it up and repost it in
