When you do make an appearance, be late but apologize profusely and explain that your day had been so full then proceed to enjoy yourself with everyone in the group except your love interest.
Call him when you know he is not at home. Then show some disappointment that you missed him so that he would feel that you do have some interest in him. Allow some time before going out with him again. By the second date you will have him eating out of your hand.
Do not allow this game to go too far though and make sure to give your prospect a small window of hope or he might become convinced that you are unattainable and simply give up.
